Semonkong Lodge offers accommodation in the beautiful mountain kingdom of Lesotho, and is perfectly situated on the banks of the Maletsunyane River. The rooms and rondavels are nestled into the valley that runs parallel with the river, giving guests an option to be closer to the water, or situated on the ridge for a view. The accommodation, built of traditional stone and thatch, offers just the right balance of rustic elegance; with affordable and comfortable ensuite rooms, crackling fires & warm beds.

Semonkong Lodge offers a range of accommodation from standard rondavel rooms and en suite with fireplaces to backpackers style dorm rooms.

Rondavels

Thaba Tséhla Bunkhouse & Camping

Thaba Tséhla Bunkhouse:

The dormitories are 2 ensuite rondavels, each with their own fireplace.

  • Dormitory no 21 accommodates 8 people
  • Dormitory no 22 accommodates 6 people, both dormitories have bunk-beds.
  • Linen is provided but please bring your own towels. There is a communal kitchen should you wish to self-cater.

Check-out: 10h00

Camping:

We have a small campsite on the banks of the Maletsunyane River. There are camping ablutions with hot showers, plug points & a braai area. Please note: there are no kitchen facilities for campers.

Restaurant and Self Catering Kitchens

We have a fully licensed tavern & restaurant called the Duck ‘n Donkey. There is always a choice of home made, delicious meals with options for vegetarians. Should there be any special dietary requirements, we would appreciate knowing this in advance.

We locally source as much fresh produce as possible with some delivered on the back of a donkey! This includes freshly baked bread, organically grown vegetables & wild moroho (spinach) with locally farmed beans & potatoes too.

There are communal kitchens should you prefer to self-cater.

Telephones & Wifi:

Even though we are deep in the Lesotho highlands, you will be able to access the outside world if needed. Lesotho Sim cards and Air-time may be purchased in town. The WIFI password is available from Reception at a small fee. We have satellite internet which means the weather can affect the signal.
